About

A home library management app built for people who take their books seriously

librari.io is a personal book cataloging tool designed to give you complete control over your collection — without the clutter, the social features you don't need, or the limitations of tools that weren't built for serious inventory management.

The Problem

Most book collections have no system at all

If your book collection has grown beyond a single shelf, you probably already know the frustration. Books spread across multiple rooms, stacked on floors, stored in boxes after a move — and no reliable way to know exactly what you own or where it is.

You buy a book you already have. You lend a copy to someone and forget who. You're not sure whether you finished something, started it, or never opened it. You have no sense of your collection as a whole — no statistics, no insights, no structure.

For small collections this is manageable. For anyone with hundreds or thousands of books, it becomes a real problem — one that spreadsheets partially solve, but not well.

Why librari.io

The existing tools weren't built for this

Most book apps are designed around social reading — discovering new books, sharing reviews, following other readers. That's a reasonable service, but it's a different one. The social layer gets in the way when what you actually need is inventory management.

The tools that did focus on cataloging felt dated, poorly maintained, or constrained in ways that made them difficult to trust with a serious collection. Import and export were often limited or missing. Custom fields were absent. The data felt fragile.

librari.io was built to fill that gap: a modern, structured, data-driven system for managing a personal library — designed from the ground up for people who want full control over their collection, not a platform designed around engagement.

Who It's For

Built for serious book collectors and home library owners

librari.io is not for everyone, and that's intentional. It's designed for people who want a real system, not a casual reading log.

Serious book collectors

People who have built collections over years or decades and need a reliable inventory system to manage them.

Home library owners

Anyone with a dedicated library space who wants to treat it like a curated collection, not just a room full of books.

Academics and researchers

People who work with books professionally and need to track sources, locations, and reference materials across large collections.

Data-driven readers

Readers who want real statistics: pages read, genres tracked, reading pace over time, and meaningful insights from their collection.

Families with shared collections

Households where books are shared, lent, and tracked across multiple people and locations.

People who value structure

Anyone who prefers a well-organized system over vague memory — and wants their book data to be portable and durable.

What Makes It Different

Control, clarity, and ownership of your book collection

The features in librari.io are chosen specifically to address the real problems of managing a serious personal collection.

Advanced statistics and insights

Understand your collection at a glance. Track reading pace, genre distribution, books added over time, and reading streaks. Your library as data, not just a list.

Bulk import via CSV and XLSX

Bring your existing data in without manually entering every book. Import from spreadsheets or exports from other tools and have your full collection available immediately.

Loans and borrow tracking

Track which books you have lent out, to whom, and since when. Never lose a book to an unrecorded loan again.

Tagging and custom fields

Organize your collection the way you actually think about it. Add custom tags, create fields specific to your workflow, and filter with precision.

Detailed location tracking

Record where books physically live — by room, shelf, box, or location. Useful for large collections spread across multiple spaces.

Public library page

Optionally share a public view of your collection with a clean, browsable page — useful for researchers, educators, or anyone who wants their library to be discoverable.

Full data export

Export your entire collection as JSON or XLSX at any time. Your data belongs to you, and you should always be able to take it with you.

The Vision

A home library treated like a curated collection

The long-term goal for librari.io is straightforward: to build the most capable personal library management system available, and to keep it focused on what it does best.

Most people with large book collections treat them as accumulated objects rather than curated collections. The difference is intentionality — knowing what you have, why you have it, and where it is. That kind of clarity changes how you relate to your books.

librari.io is built on the belief that a home library deserves the same organizational rigor as any other serious collection. The roadmap is guided by that principle: more structure, more insight, more control — without unnecessary complexity.

Founder Story

Built out of personal need

librari.io started as a personal project. The collection had grown large enough that memory and spreadsheets were no longer sufficient. Books were being bought twice, lent out without record, and scattered across enough physical locations to make retrieval genuinely difficult.

The available tools didn't fit. Most were social platforms that treated inventory as secondary. Others were technically limited — missing bulk import, poor export options, no custom fields. So the decision was made to build the right tool instead of working around the wrong one.

That origin means the product is shaped by the same problems its users have. Every feature either solves a real problem or it doesn't ship. librari.io is not a weekend project that stagnated — it's an independently maintained product with a long-term commitment to improving it.

Commitment to Users

Your data, your library, your terms

The most important commitment is simple: your data belongs to you. You can export everything, at any time, in a format you can actually use. No lock-in, no dependency on whether the product continues to exist in a particular form.

librari.io does not sell user data, does not use collections to train models, and does not monetize behavior. The business model is straightforward — a subscription for users who want the full feature set.

Development is driven by user feedback. The people who use librari.io seriously are also the people who shape what it becomes. If something doesn't work well, that feedback reaches the person building it directly.

This is not a product managed by a committee or optimized for growth metrics. It's maintained by someone who uses it daily and wants it to be excellent. That focus doesn't change.
